Emerging Ambassador Winner

Sharee Andrews

Not for Profit – Tableland Community Link

Funds Raised – $1,908.60

Funds used for – to complete their communal kitchen space, ‘The Grove’.

Achievements since – attended the Queensland Indigenous Youth Leadership Program 2019. 1 week program in Brisbane where we presented in parliament House to the Minister and collaborated with other indigenous youth from all over QLD. I have now been selected to return in 2020 as a mentor – guiding the next group of youth through the adventure.

Quote “I desired to developed myself and confidence within the public eye and just individually. I learnt to create sustainable relationships with key stakeholders to answer the never ending problem of “there is nothing to do”. In doing the Ambassador program, I met likeminded youth and members of the community to progress with ideas.”

Youth Ambassador Winner

 Connor Le Gear

 Sponsor – Disability Matters

Not for Profit – Disability Matters

Funds Raised – $827.80

Funds used for – to raise funds to create a Sensory Room – the first of its kind in Atherton.

Achievements since – After I won the ambassador program my leadership didn’t stop there. More opportunities become available to lead and I even heavily contributed to the Youth Strategic Plan which will hopefully benefit all youth in the TRC region in coming years. I have recently been provided with the opportunity to represent all youth in the Hill Electorate in the Queensland Youth Parliament and I would definitely not be where I am today if it wasn’t for the great opportunity offered by the Maize Festival Program

Quote – My experience through the Maize Festival Program was an experience like no other. During the program, I’ve learned more about myself by pushing myself to do new things.

The program was such a great opportunity to actually make a difference in the community and that’s exactly what I did.
