Terms and Conditions:
1. Nomination for a team entry into the Tug–A–War competition close at 5.00 pm Friday 30th of August, 2024. Late entries may be considered but not guaranteed.
2. Teams are made up of six (6) competitors. It is advised to find two (2) reserves in the case of illness or injury.
3. Competitors must be eighteen (18) years and over.
4. All team members must wear activity-appropriate closed-in shoes for the competition (sports sandshoes are recommended).
5. Teams should be dressed in a team shirt for the competition. Team members are encouraged to wear activity-appropriate clothing (e.g. comfortable sports shorts, sandshoes) for the remainder of the team uniform and if possible coordinate team colours for the remainder of the uniform (e.g. everyone is to wear black shorts). The committee does not expect this to be an added expense to competitors – please choose uniform specifics that work with what team members already own. Please let the Committee know if you need assistance sourcing a suitable Team Shirt.
6. The Tug–A–War competition will be held on Main Street, Atherton in front of the BV Hotel. The competition will commence after the Presentation of the Parade and Competition winners concludes. We expect this to occur around 7:45 pm. All team members are to be assembled out the front of the BV Hotel at this time.
7. The competition will follow a knock-out draw (a loss results in elimination from the competition) that will be communicated to all team captains prior to the event, displayed on the competition board at the event and communicated on the night by the competition callers. Details of prize money categories will be posted on the Maize Festival Facebook page by 8 PM Wednesday 28/08/2024. There will be significant prize money this year thanks to our local sponering businesses.
8. All team members must comply with all directions issued by any competition marshals and the competition callers;
9. All team members shall indemnify and keep indemnified the Atherton Maize Festival Committee Inc. from and against claims, demands, actions, suits, costs, and expenses in respect of any injury (including death) to any person, however, sustained, arising out of, or in any way incidental to anything involved in the Tug–A–War competition.
